The camel-coloured coat is made from a wool and cashmere mix fabric. It has a tailored, slim fit. It features peak lapels, a double-breasted button fastening, two flap pockets, long sleeves, buttoned cuffs and a back vent. Plus, it is lined.

Don't be fooled into thinking camel coats are boring, because the style options are endless. You will never go wrong with the double-breasted coat or the midi-length and buttonless belted version, however, this season it's all about the more daring designs.

I am loving the ankle-grazing oversized look as seen on the catwalk at Max Mara and Fendi, but I'm also embracing all things casual. Whether that's the long puffer jacket seen at Moncler or Brunello Cucinelli or the shearling-lined shell jacket at Stella McCartney. Tactile textures are another key look. Bottega Veneta's fringe shearling coat is high on my wishlist, as is Max Mara's teddy coat.

I spoke to celebrity stylist, Karen Williams all about how to style camel coats for the upcoming season. Williams has dressed everyone from Beyoncé to David Beckham, as well as starring in several television shows, so she is certainly an expert on all things style.

If you're going to invest in one thing and one thing only for the upcoming seasons (or ever for that matter), make it a good camel coat. Given we're in the middle of winter, now is the time to buy one, especially as there are some incredible bargains around.

A camel coat is versatile and timeless, meaning it will undoubtedly be money well spent. In fact, I think it's one of the best winter coats (opens in new tab) out there. Whether it's thrown over an oversized suit, knitted midi dress, jeans (opens in new tab) or joggers and a sweatshirt, a well-tailored camel coat has an inherent knack for making any outfit look expensive.

Max Mara is known for its signature camel coats. While the brand's outerwear can set you back upwards of 1000, its diffusion line Weekend Max Mara offers a slightly more affordable price point. Made from 100% wool, this is a true investment piece, and certainly the kind of coat you'll keep forever.

Featuring a classic silhouette and created in a wool and silk blend, Nanushka's Alamo coat will certainly be worth the price per wear. You'll have this for seasons to come and can effortlessly pair it against both casual and dressy outfits.

Cut to fall at a knee-length, this is a slightly shorter take on Arket's classic puffer coat. Filled with Re:Down 100% recycled down and feathers, with a shell of recycled polyamide, the coat is designed to keep you warm during dry, cold weather conditions. The two-way zip at the front allows for temperature and freedom of movement adjustments when wearing. In team MC's experience, Arket coats last for ages.

The ba&sh 'Kate' coat makes a strong statement. This streamlined coat falls just below the knee. It has a shirt collar, slightly dropped shoulders and piped pockets. My favourite part? The trendy cord belt in the same fabric which slips around the waist through gold eyelets.

This exact coat was recently seen on Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, making it outwear fit for a Princess. Made from 100% pure cool, with a classic silhouette and tie waist belt, we can certainly see why it warranted a royal endorsement.

Of course, you can't mention the words camel and coat without thinking of one brand in particular: Max Mara. From its signature teddy coats to the Manuela Icon design, a Meghan Markle favourite, Max Mara is an expert in the field of caramel-hued winter coats. But they're not the only ones.

Want to browse even more options? We recommend these wool coats, duvet coats/puffer coats, faux fur coats and quilted jackets (including the Frankie Shop quilted jacket). We're also snapping up the best patterned tights, winter boots and leather jackets/leather blazers.

You are a warm season and a shade of the color camel with orange or yellow undertones will look great on you. Additionally, gold jewelry suits you best so feel free to accessorize your look with gold hoops and a gold pendant necklace!

You are a cool season, so finding a version of the color camel with blue undertones would be best for you. Most likely, your best version of a camel coat is going to be a pinky color with a cool undertone. Accessorize with silver jewelry!

You are a warm season and a camel coat was made for you! A camel coat in a warm-based color such as caramel would look best for you. Think brown, vibrant, and rich. Accessorize with gold, bronze, or copper jewelry!

You are a cool season and colors with a clear contrast look great on you. You can easily wear neutrals like black and pure white, though this means your best version of a camel coat is not really going to be camel at all. Look for stone, taupe, or grey beige. Ideally, your coat has cool grey undertones. Accessorize with silver jewelry!

Hi CarolynAfter reading your posts regarding trench coats i purchased a lightweight one and now a heavier one suitable for cool to cold weather. Wearing it makes me feel very stylish and chic I appreciate all the info and explanation of the ins and outs of various aspects of classic style. Thank you once again.

Hi CarolineThe camel coat you model at the beginning is absolutely gorgeous. Can you tell me where i can buy one from please. I love it. I have looked for so long for a camel coat and never seen one i like untill now. Thankyou.

It can be hard to tell online if the color will work with your skin tone, so I recommend purchasing it and trying it on at home. If the camel coat blends into your skin or hair too much, you can always return it.

If you have fallen in love with a gorgeous camel winter coat that is too close to your skin color, you can still pull this off. You just have to create a color break between the coat collar and your face and neck. Here are my favorite ways to create that color break:

You will notice I took some liberties with the camel color here. Some of these camel winter coats are dancing with the idea of being brown, while some garments are veering towards golden pecan or cognac. Humor me, please. These yummy coats were too gorgeous not to show you.

I am a die-hard fan of Ted Baker coats. They are incredibly comfortable (no itching), versatile and utilitarian, yet glamorous. I have yet to meet a client that did not love their Ted Baker coat. A few seasons ago, they put out their signature wrap coat in camel and, bless our stars, they put it out in a long camel coat as well as a short version. The short version is perfect for San Diego, and us average or shorter gals. I had to hem the sleeves on my coat, but the length of the body is perfection. The shorter version works beautifully in San Diego as well as London.

Camel coats might not be revolutionary but they are timeless. And, as of this year, they'll also be forever equated with outerwear enthusiast Meghan Markle. The Duchess loves a good coat and frequently wears a camel Max Mara version and this tan one by Sentaler, both of which fit squarely into a royal budget. Luckily, there are lots of other camel coats to choose from that'll still leave some room in your bank account for fall statement pieces like snakeskin boots or neon clothing. A camel coat is as essential this season as a teddy jacket but without all the fluff, if you prefer simplicity.

Whether you want the exact Max Mara Markle, a luxurious classic by Helmut Lang, a currently on sale luxury coat from Tory Burch, or an under-$100 option from H&M, there is absolutely a camel coat out there for you. Shop below for the best camel coats you can buy this fall.

This thick-knit fabric looks just as good as camel hair and the dropped shoulder seam makes for easy elegance. Mango also did a great job with the styling and demonstrates how magical this coat would look with a black belt, oversized sweater, jeans and a great pair of pointed boots.

This tailored camel coat from & Other Stories looks extra cool because of the duo d-ring belt. It's also thicker than most so it'll actually keep you warm. And as the model demonstrates, it would look great with snakeskin boots.

Camel coats definitely have a professional elegance to them. This Eloquii coat offers a more relaxed vibe with it's tie waist that makes it look more like a robe. Also if you use the code 'HEYGIRL' it's currently 40% off at $89.94.

This double-breasted colorblock camel coat from Avec Les Filles has some great details that give it a bit more edge than most camel coats. There is the grommet style belt which has surged in popularity recently and you can always remove if from the coat to wear with your favorite denim. If you want to flip up the collar there is also a hidden faux leather detail. If you happen to be an XXS it's also on sale over at Nordstrom Rack.

A lot of camel coats have inconvenient pockets (or none at all) which is what makes this sherpa version by Cupcakes and Cashmere so great. It has slant front pockets to carry all of your belongings. And if you still have lots of stuff to carry, check out the latest handbag trend.

Ah, the Max Mara Markle. Technically her name is 'Manuela' but we prefer to refer to her by the duchess who loves her so much. Meghan has been seen wearing this coat on multiple occasions so if you're a superfan or just want to attract a potential prince suitor, it's definitely worth the price tag. 041b061a72
